Pulled Pork Sandwich with Queso Fresco and Crispy Onion Recipe

A pulled pork sandwich is a popular dish made with slow-cooked, tender pork that is shredded or "pulled" and served on a bun. It is a classic comfort food that is loved by many.

 

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs of Pork Butt
  • 2 tbsp of Spicelopedia® Southwest Zesty Fiesta Seasoning
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 1 tbsp of Olive Oil
  • 1, 12 oz can of Beer of Choice (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)
  • 1, can of Chopped Green Chilies
  • 2 Brioche Buns each
  • 1 cup crumbles of Queso Fresco
  • 2 cups of Crispy Onion Rings
  • Chips and Cole Slaw (optional)

Procedures

Step One

Trim any excess fat off the pork butt. Place the butt in a stainless bowl and rub it with olive oil, salt and pepper, and Spicelopedia seasoning.

 

Step Two

Place the pork in a crock pot or slow cooker. Add the can of beer and green chilis to the pot. Cook on low or for 7-8 hours or until the pork butt easily falls apart.

 

Step Three

When the pork is done remove it from the pot and into a bowl. Shred the meat with two forks. Adjust the seasoning, adding more if needed.

 

Step Four

Remove as much liquid fat off the top of the gravy as possible. Use the gravy as a side for dipping the sandwich.

 

Step Five

To assemble the pulled pork sandwich first heat or toast the roll.

 

Step Six

Place 1 cup of the pulled pork on the roll. Top the pork with crumbled queso and crispy onion pieces.

 

Note

Serve with spicy potato chips and slaw.
