  • 5 Fresh Thyme Springs
  • 2 tbsp of Cold Butter
  • Scallions, sliced (white and green parts)

    Step One

Add canola oil to Dutch Oven or Heavy Pan (with a lid).

    Step Two

    Heat oil over medium heat.

    Step Three

Rub roast with Texas Brisket Seasoning on both sides.

    Step Four

    Step Five

Add onions, celery and peppers. Sauté 3 minutes.

    Step Six

Deglaze the pan with the red wine, scaping brown bits from the bottom.

    Step Seven

Add tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, thyme and bay leaf.

    Step Eight

Cover with lid, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 3 hours – 3.45 minutes until meat is fork-tender.

    Step Nine

Add the cold butter to thicken the sauce.

    Step Ten

Garnish with scallions and more Texas Brisket Seasoning – to taste.

Serve over cheese grits *To preserve the integrity of the vegetables but to let the flavors enhance the gravy, remove the vegetables after about a half hour of cooking, and add them back in during the last half hour.

Now you know how to make a mouthwatering East Texas Pot Roast. This classic Southern dish is sure to impress your family and friends. Enjoy the tender beef, flavorful vegetables, and rich gravy that make this pot roast a true comfort food favorite.
