Lamb Shank

BBQ Lamb Shank with Cola NOLA BBQ Sauce

  • Cola NOLA BBQ Sauce
  • 1 Cup of Coca Cola
  • ¼ Cup of Molasses
  • ¼ Cup of Organic Ketchup 
  • ⅛ Cups of Yellow Mustard
  • ¼ Cups of Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp of Spicelopedia Rajun Cajun Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp of Lemon Juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 Tbsp of Pan Drippings from Lamb
  • 1 Tbsp of BBQ Lamb Shanks
  • 1 lb of Lamb Shanks
  • 2 Tsp of Spicelopedia Rajun Cajun Seasoning


Step One

Add cola, molasses, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, 1 TBSP Rajun Cajun Seasoning, and lemon juice to saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally.

Step Two

Cook sauce until only about ⅓ remains. Set aside until ready to use.

Step Three

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Rub lamb shanks with remaining 4 TBSP Rajun Cajun.

Step Four

Place in a greased oven-safe dish, cover with tin foil and bake for 3.5 hours until the meat is ready to fall off the bone. 

Step Five

Lightly reheat sauce and add lamb pan drippings (optional but recommended).

Step Six

Preheat grill to medium heat, about 350F-375F.

Step Seven

Cook pre-cooked shanks over direct heat for a few minutes, turning once.

Step Eight

Transfer to indirect heat and baste repeatedly with sauce until caramelized.
