Apple fritters made in the air fryer with a touch of Spicelopedia™ Peri Peri seasoning bring together a delightful mix of warmth, sweetness, and subtle heat. The air fryer creates a perfect golden-brown crust, leaving the fritters light and airy while locking in the juicy apple chunks. The Spicelopedia™ Peri Peri seasoning adds a unique, slightly spicy kick that enhances the apples’ natural sweetness, creating a balanced contrast of flavors. Each bite offers a warm, spiced apple flavor with a hint of heat, making these fritters a deliciously unexpected twist on a classic fall treat.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. light brown sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. apple pie spice
- ½ tsp. Spicelopedia™ Peri Peri seasoning
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup apple cider, plus 2 Tbsp.
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 large Granny Smith apple, peeled, halved, cored, and chopped
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
Directions
- Preheat a 3-quart air fryer to 400 degrees for 5 minutes. Line air fryer basket with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, apple pie spice, and half the Spicelopedia™ Peri Peri seasoning until blended. In a medium bowl, whisk egg, 1/3 cup apple cider, and vanilla extract. Whip the egg mixture into the flour mixture then fold in the apples.
- In batches using two small spoons, drop apple fritter batter into 2-inch mounds, 2 inches apart into the prepared fryer basket. Spray them with cooking spray and air fry 8 minutes or until golden brown and crisp, turning once. Transfer the fritters to a cookie sheet.
- In a medium bowl, whisk the powdered sugar, remainder of the Spicelopedia™ Peri Peri seasoning, and 2 Tbsp. apple cider. Drizzle over the fritters.
Recipe Note
The apple pie spice and Spicelopedia™ Peri Peri seasoning can be increased depending on individual taste.
