Spicy Port Cranberry Sauce made with Spicelopedia™ Peri Peri seasoning adds an unexpected twist to a holiday classic, combining the tartness of cranberries with the warmth of port wine and a fiery kick. As the cranberries simmer, they release a deep, tangy sweetness that’s enhanced by the rich, smooth flavor of the port, creating a thick, jewel-toned sauce. A dash of Spicelopedia™ Peri Peri seasoning introduces a subtle layer of heat, balancing the sauce's sweetness perfectly. This vibrant sauce makes a bold pairing with roasted turkey or ham, while also elevating cheese boards and leftover sandwiches with its dynamic sweet-and-spicy profile.
Ingredients
- 1 orange
- 1 bag fresh cranberries (12 oz.)
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- ½ cup ruby port
- 1 cinnamon stick
- ¼ tsp. Spicelopedia™ Peri Peri seasoning
Directions
- Wash the orange. Peel the orange with a vegetable peeler, then slice the peel into thin strips. Juice the orange.
- Add the juice, cranberries, and peel to a saucepan. Add the sugar, port, Spicelopedia™ Peri Peri seasoning, and cinnamon stick.
- Simmer over low heat until the cranberries pop and the sauce thickens, about 20 minutes. Stir occasionally.
- Transfer the sauce to a bowl and let it cool slightly before removing the cinnamon stick. Cover and chill until ready to serve.
