Cherry Cola Pork Spare Ribs are a delectable treat, infused with a symphony of robust flavors and a touch of sweetness. These tender ribs are seasoned to perfection with Spicelopedia™ Texas Brisket seasoning, known for its bold and smoky profile, and Spicelopedia™ Wicked BBQ Rub, which adds a layer of spicy, savory goodness. The ribs are baked and then grilled until they are fall-off-the-bone tender, allowing the seasonings to permeate deeply. They are then basted with a luscious sauce made from a blend of barbecue sauce, cola, cherries, apple cider vinegar, and cranberry juice. This unique sauce strikes a perfect balance, combining the sweet and fruity notes of cherry and cranberry with the tangy sharpness of apple cider vinegar and the rich caramel undertones of cola. The result is a dish that is not only mouthwateringly delicious but also offers a complex and satisfying flavor experience, making every bite a delight.
Ingredients
- 4-4.5 lbs. pork spare ribs
- 4 Tbsp. Spicelopedia™ Texas Brisket with Hatch Chili seasoning
- 4 Tbsp. Spicelopedia™ Wicked BBQ Rub with Ghost Pepper seasoning
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 cup cola
- ½ cup fresh cherries, pitted
- 2 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
-
2 Tbsp. cranberry juice
Directions
- Remove ribs from packaging. Using a knife with a narrow flexible blade, remove the membrane (also known as the fell) from the underside of the rack of ribs (looks like an extra skin).
- Rub the Spicelopedia™ Texas Brisket seasoning and Spicelopedia™ Wicked BBQ Rub seasoning on both sides of the ribs using your hands. Wrap the ribs in aluminum foil and refrigerate for 45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place the foil wrapped ribs on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake for 1.5 hours or until tender.
- While the ribs are in the oven, combine the barbecue sauce, cola, cherries, cranberry juice, and vinegar in a sauté pan. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer 30-40 minutes until the sauce is thick enough to coat the bottom of a spoon.
- Heat the grill to medium. When the ribs are done baking, remove the foil and brush them with the cherry cola sauce and place them on the grill. Cook the ribs for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through. Grill until the meat is about ready to fall off the bone. Brush with more sauce.
